In 1973 Dr. Martin Cooper, an employee of Motorola, invented the first mobile phone so it is reasonable to assume that somewhere there are now numerous unused mobile phones as well as regular phones just taking up space and gathering dust. Fortunately many people are beginning to realise that the best thing one can do with an old phone is to recycle it and in so doing they will help save the environment.
Why not compare phone recyclers?
Every year almost two hundred fifty million phones are discarded and mobile phones are more likely to be replaced then standard phones. Many mobile phone users are now recycling the phones they no longer use or those they have replaced and, looking for the best deal in phones, they take time to compare phone recyclers. Many mobile phone users simply trade in or return their used mobile phone for a newer model and others give their old mobile phones to charity organisations so that persons who otherwise would not be able to have a phone will receive a phone which is now almost considered a necessity rather than a luxury. However that is forgetting the amount of money you could receive from selling your mobile phone, why not compare and see before giving it away?
A lot of companies pay their customers to return their old working handsets which still have the battery. There is also a variety of mobile phone recycling websites that will sell a phone for cash, and each site offers special incentives and benefits for those who choose to use them. Anyone wanting to sell a phone can easily compare phone recyclers by typing in the make and model of his or her phone and he or she will immediately receive the price that the individual site would be willing to pay for that phone. Some recyclers have various methods of payment which include reimbursement by check, gift vouchers or PayPal, and sometimes they offer an opportunity for sellers to make a little more than the cash value of their phone.
Many phone users have no idea about the kinds of hazardous and valuable materials found in phones, and particularly in mobile phones. The electrical wiring has copper and lead products and some parts are made of plastic which has been treated with flame retardants. Many phones also contain valuable precious metals like copper, gold, and silver. These may be released and used again after having been removed and processed. Recyclers claim that a ton load of old phones can yield about 300 grams of pure gold.
